We've been in California for 11 years. That is so hard to believe! The Lord has blessed us with such a wonderful Covenant family at our church. I've really learned the value of those relationships within the church body. Our weekend was filled with sweet fellowship with our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Friday night, we had our last community group at our house. Four others families joined ours and we shared a meal, talked, prayed, and played together. O how the kids love it when their friends come over. It's always a bit crazy in our small house, but I am always so glad I opened my home. It is so rewarding and brings me great joy!
Saturday we had a church picnic at a local park. Again, the children had such fun! Their cousin Chase and Uncle John were with us that day as well. Summer is definitely here. . . it was feeling warm for southern California :)
So, of course we had to hit the pool that afternoon. Our dear friends the Williams have a pool behind their house that is available for us to use at any time. What a blessing!! We cooled off and then sat on their beautiful back patio enjoying some time with them. Our day ended with a trip to In-and-Out and a family movie. . .
Sunday found me in Whitney's little 3 and 4 year old Sunday school class. I've moved to her group for the summer quarter. We had a whopping 12 little ones. Boy was that a handful!! It is SUCH a joy though to see God's family growing. . . He has been adding so many to our church body. Whitney has so many sweet little friends. . .
That afternoon, we headed down South to visit a dear family (who has actually been in our community group over the years) who just had their fourth little one this past Friday. They now have the baby, a 1, 3, and 5 year old. I was thinking how crazy that is, and then realized I did the same thing :) I guess when you're in the midst of all those toddlers and pre-schoolers you don't think anything of it, you just do the next thing. But, looking back I am amazed at what I did!!! I wouldn't trade it for the world though, and would have another baby in a second if I could :) God is so good and children are SUCH a blessing from Him.
Sunday evening found us back at church listening to our Covenant kids reciting their catechism questions that they have been working on throughout the school year. Loved hearing the little ones answer questions such as "What is a Covenant?" ans. . "A relationship that God sets up with us and guarantees by his Word."
I hope your weekend wanderings were as filled with family and friends as ours was! We are so very blessed and have SO MUCH to offer our brother and sisters in the Lord. Make every effort to build up the body of Christ. We are the arms and legs!!
"And let us not grow weary of doing good,
for in due season we will reap,
if we do not give up.
So then, as we have opportunity,
let us do good to everyone,
and especially to those who are of the
household of faith."
Galations 6: 9,10
