I recently listened to a "mini-sermon" by a pastor named Kevin DeYoung. He said some of the most encouraging things about God's kingdom, and I wanted to share a few of my notes. . . most of these are his words:
~We do not "build" the kingdom of God. . .
~It is a God-wrought miracle.
~However, we may do "business" in the kingdom.
~The kingdom is a gift.
~The kingdom grows by the Word.
~Do we trust in the Word of God to do the work of God?
~Good soil and faithful sowing are what is needed.
~The power to grow is in the seed, NOT the farmer.
~Each day I sow the seed- the Word of God - into
the soil-the hearts of my children. . .
~We do not know how the Word sprouts up,
but it does by the miracle of regeneration.
~By the germinating power of the seed of the Word of God,
my children will believe.
~Just keep sowing.
~Just keep sowing.
~Just keep sowing.
"And he said, 'The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come." Mark 4:26-29
(If you pop over to the "girl talk" blog and look at yesterday's post, you can click on the link that will allow you to listen to Kevin DeYoung's whole mini-sermon. . . I have yet to figure out how to add links to my posts. It's only 10 minutes long and will bless your heart :)
Thanks Anna for that reminder, even at the kids young age to just keep sowing the word and trust in the power God to work in their hearts.
