capturing life

I've been using my DSLR camera once again….. can you tell? For my birthday, I took another class through The Define School called Auto to Manual. I've known for the most part how to shoot manual, but there were some holes in my understanding. This class was so helpful. It tied up loose strings in my mind and actually helped me to understand my camera's settings better than I ever have before. My confidence has been boosted and my desire to capture real life has been renewed.

Soooo, here ya go. I want to document my family's life because I forget VERY easily. I want to stay connected with my family in San Diego, in Georgia, and in Lynden and I want them to feel connected. Taking pictures is my creative outlet and my gift to my dear family… and I guess to myself. One day, I'll look back on all of these posts and remember. The images will bring me back to this time and remind me of God's faithfulness throughout the years.

This past week, my kids found their baby books. As they were looking through, Whitney picked up her's and guess what? It was for the most past blank. She mentioned to me that the other kids had some other albums as well, but her's was empty. When I told her that all of her pictures were on the computer, she actually had no idea. Talk about making a Mama's heart SAD!! We quickly went over to the computer and I began to show her all the pictures I had taken of her. We began choosing pictures to have printed out at Costco to fill her baby books. It's been so cute watching her decide which ones she wants as she looks back on her short life. I'm so very thankful to have these memories for her.

We will have quite the summer project working on her albums!!

lacrosse

Toby joined his big brother this winter in playing lacrosse. With five kids, I have a really hard time putting them in different activities that have me running every which way, so this was so perfect. They both were able to play for a local small Christian school, Toby on the 5/6 team and Drew on the 7/8 team. Toby had never played before, except out front with his brother …. so we were all pleasantly surprised at how well he picked up the sport and did with these other boys, especially because he is really only officially in the 3rd grade!!

Their practices have been three times a week and games on Saturdays. Drew has actually played in most of the 5/6 games with Toby since they were short players this season. This particular game was up in Bellingham. (Here are pictures from last year's game …. same field) Once again, Num Num, Papa, and Tricia were able to join us to cheer them on. It was a really cold, wet day, but the boys did SO well. They both scored, and in fact one of Toby's was assisted by Drew. AND THEN, they were both awarded the team awards by the other team!! So fun. (Drew is number 7, Toby number 9)

And while the boys played on the field… the girls played on the sideline with their daddy.

the highlanders

We are now the proud parents of a lacrosse player...
our boy Drew has taken up the sport this spring,
and he is so good!! I wanted to share some shots of a recent game....
lots of action shots, which I love.
It was a beautiful day, actually my birthday,
and we traveled an hour and a half north to watch Drew play.
Num Num, Papa, and Auntie Tricia were able to meet us and help cheer him on.

We are so very thankful for the strong body the Lord has given to Drew,
and that he has found something he is passionate about!!
(he rarely puts down his stick, carrying it around the house!!)
We are hopeful that this sport will take him through his middle
and high school years.

We are so proud of you Drew!!
