cRazy people

We stayed at two lovely homes while in San Diego. The first week some dear friends
housed us and the second week some other dear friends let us use there house while they were away.
Both places had easy access to a swimming pool (the first had a community pool directly behind it,
and the second in the back yard). So needless to say, the children had PLENTY of swim time.

The first morning there, I was abruptly awakened with the words.... "the kids are in the pool!"
I went into a momentary panic thinking, "Whitney can't swim and Abby has a cast on her arm."
All was good though, and sure enough they were swimming though the temp was only about 65!
(Both of the pools were thankfully heated...)

By the end of our trip, Whitney was indeed swimming alone, and Abby had mastered swimming
with her cast on.... which was quite the site. However, I regret to say I did not get a picture of her learned skill.
Not sure how that happened:(
She would put on a swim vest, along with her plastic arm cover, and go down the big slide.....
all with her arm raised above her head. (I do think the pastor got some video, thankfully!!)
For the most part, she kept it pretty dry! I was impressed.

The pictures below were taken at the second home we stayed in.
We affectionately called this place of entertainment "Barrie-land!"
Can you tell it was wonderful??

Thank you Bob and Darlynn & Gary and Cheryl for providing such WONDERFUL places
for us to stay. Your hospitality made our trip.
We will forever be grateful for these memories and hope that
one day we can return the favor!!
Many, many blessings to you and your dear families this summer.
We love you!

cousins

We all had such a sweet time with little Beck and Chase.
EVERYONE had to get their "baby fix" (not just me :)
Beck was smiling so much and seemed to be showing signs of such a mellow personality!
What a GOOD baby he is.
He certainly was often the center of attention!

O how we miss you Chase and Beck ......
What sweet, sweet California memories we all have!
Thank you so much for all the wonderful play time and cuddle time.
We LOVE you so, and we will be counting down the days
until we see you again.

best friends forever

One of the highlights of our trip to California was spending time with Cousin Chase.
Whitney and Chase are about two years apart but they are truly sisters at heart.
Chase looks up to Whit, takes her lead, plays with her, copies her.... and at times annoys her :)
But, O how they love each other.

One afternoon, we decided to go on a walk .....
Whit and Chase took the lead. Of course anything Whit thinks is fun and adventurous,
.... Chase thinks is fun and adventurous:

At one point we stopped to play on some rocks.
I noticed Whit was crossing her fingers and I asked what she was doing.
She said in a matter of fact tone that it was the
"best friends ever"
sign.
 O, of course.
So, she had to teach Chase...

 BEST. FRIENDS. FOREVER.

A friend loves at all times.

the beach

We are safe and sound back from our California vacation .....
back to blogging and school books and laundry and cleaning and dinner preparations.
My, it was nice for me to have a break from those things, but I'm not so sure
I'm more rested now that we are back.
Vacation with five kids is HARD WORK!!
ESPECIALLY when you vacation to a place where so many
love you and want to be with you.
BUT, how blessed we were to see our dear family and friends,
and how very THANKFUL I am for our time there.

Between dinners out, sleep-overs, cousin time, and 7 CRAZY, different schedules,
I DID get to put my feet up a couple of times at the beach ......
how I love watching my sweet kids play.
