A Mother's Day Surprise

As you know, we are visiting the pastor's family in Lynden, Washington (Num Num and Papa). It is our official homeschooling spring break, as well as a much needed vacation. BUT, it is also a VERY BIG Mother's Day gift for my dear mother-in-law from her hubby. You see, she had NO IDEA that we were going to arrive at her house last Thursday night! Papa purchased plane tickets for us, and he and the pastor have been planning for months. . . And BOY was she surprised! Papa joked with the kids that we were going to "shock the pants off of Num Num," and how that rang true. When we arrived to their house Thursday night, she was ready for bed, standing in the kitchen in her nighties :)

We've had a very special time. We went to Auntie Tricia's school on Friday in Blaine, and surprised her too. She also had no idea we were coming. The children had so much fun seeing her kindergarten class and meeting her dog Lucy. We went out to dinner that night, and then came back home to take tractor rides with the neighbor farmer while he plowed his field.
We've been taking long country walks, enjoying the cool air and BEAUTIFUL scenery. I have SUCH a romantic view of this area, because it is one of the places where my hubby and I started falling in love :) Even the smells bring back memories of those tender years of courtship.
Yesterday, the pastor preached at his dad's little church called Wiser Lake Chapel. It was a sweet time, seeing old family friends. I wore my very precious mother's day gift. . . a Lisa Leonard necklace with the names of my five little blessings engraved on charms. I am OVERWHELMED at how my husband loves me. He honors me so well, and makes me feel so special and blessed.
We got to go to Birch Bay and eat a WONDERFUL lunch. . . and walk on the beach, enjoying God's creation afterwards. It was a memorable day!! We got home, and my sweet son gave me this rock that he had written on.
How I love the children my Heavenly Father has blessed me with. Thank you, dear Father, for Ellie, Drew, Abby, Toby, and Whit.
My heart overflows with the depth of Your love for me and the life You have given me. . .

"The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance."
Psalms 16:6

"I give thanks to you, O Lord my God,
with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever."
Psalms 86:12

In Jesus name, Amen.
