the perfect tree

A week ago today, our family headed out for our 2nd annual tree-hunting trip.
We found a quaint little tree farm near Lake Stevens, about 30 minutes away.
It was perfect, because not many families are out tree shopping on a Monday afternoon.
(.... one of the perks of having Monday as the Pastor's day off!!)
We arrived around 3, so the sun was beginning it's descent.
Love the lighting this time of day, so I had fun taking pictures!!
At one point I was so distracted, I completely stepped into a mud-filled ditch.
My foot was nice and icy by the time we got back into the car.... I had it coming though.
I think I need to chill on the photography :)
It's just so hard when I love my surroundings!!

So much for a cute picture of the kids.... though I think these are hilarious.
I only wish we had gotten a family picture :(
The old barn was so becoming! It had been gutted and made
into a gathering area to host families after their tree-hunt.
Cute decorations, tables and chairs, set up by hot chocolate and apple cider.....
which we all sipped on while the tree was loaded on our van.
You can see the top of it laying by Abby.....
they were shaking and wrapping it.
We recalled how long it took the Pastor last year to get the
tree secured on the car. This year, the young man who helped us,
asked if we would like him to do it. Of course we let him, and he had
the tree secured on the car (with two seemingly small pieces of twine) in minutes.
We had to laugh.... If you're interested, go here to check out
our adventure last year. It was a bit more scenic then, but much farther and
more expensive. We LOVED this new place.....
and it does seem this is going to be a family tradition.

I do believe, our tree this year is the prettiest we have ever had.

  1. Great photos. My favourite is the one of the saws on the side of the barn. What's the name of the farm you went to? I like the indoor place to hang out afterward. We went to Farmer Brown's in Arlington on Sunday. Just an FYI - some farms aren't open on Mondays. ;)
