Our new rental house has a back-yard about
the same size as our house in California did.
We had an orange, lemon, and plum tree in our former yard.
Our new place has a number of fruit trees as well,
although we haven't quite figured out what they all are.
There is also a nice area along the back fence for a spring garden.
The folks who lived here before us left a number of things growing.
Like the fruit, we are still a bit unsure what they all are. . .
mint, some type of beans or Asian green,
and Abby even pulled up a whole basket-worth of potatoes!
Over the back fence, we have a lovely "green-belt". . .
Our bedroom window faces the trees, so I often feel like we are living
in a more rural area than we actually do. I love it!!
Recently, we have explored our surrounding area on foot.
Drew and Ellie have been riding their bikes while dad runs,
We hope to have an "open house" for our neighbors in December.
This is a new thing for us, and a bit intimidating.
We want to stretch ourselves though, and think it is a good practice
to show hospitality to people you don't know.
God has placed us here for the time being,
and we want to be a light to those around us. . .
I'll let you know how that goes when it happens!
