Last month we had the joy of having some dear friends from San Diego stay in our home for a few nights. These dear folks have watched our kids grow up. They were some of the first people we met when we moved to California, and were so influential in our life there. Since we did not have parents close by, they stepped in and became our Covenant parents, loving on our children like they would their real grand-children. Cheryl taught me to quilt, mentored me, babysat my kids, gave me baby showers, modeled hospitality, and spurred me on by her example of love and service to the Church. Gary served on the session with the Pastor, helped us move a number of times, took us on hikes, swam and wrestled with my boys, and was one of his greatest encouragers in the ministry.
Sooo, what a blessing it was to be able to share our city and home with them for the first time!! They got to watch the boys play lacrosse, baked and crafted with the girls, helped grill steaks for the Pastor's birthday, attended our church, watched movies with us, and hiked and explored some of our beautiful state …. . How good it was to make some new memories with them after so many years. It all was such a blessing!!
